At Blue Stone Health & Wellness, we use advanced technology and methods to ensure accurate, efficient results for a variety of common testing needs. Whether you are feeling unwell or staying proactive about your health, quick and reliable lab results can make a meaningful difference.

Blood Tests

We perform several common blood tests to support early detection, ongoing monitoring, and treatment planning. The process involves collecting a small blood sample, usually through a standard blood draw.

  • Blood Glucose Test: This test measures the amount of sugar in your bloodstream and is often used to screen for or monitor diabetes. It may be recommended if you are experiencing symptoms like frequent urination, increased thirst, or excessive fatigue.
  • Prothrombin Time (PT/INR) Test: This test checks how long it takes your blood to clot. The INR (International Normalized Ratio) is a standardized value used to monitor patients taking blood-thinning medications. It helps reduce the risk of complications like bleeding or clot formation.
  • Hemoglobin & Hematocrit: The hemoglobin test measures the oxygen-carrying protein in red blood cells, while hematocrit reflects the percentage of red blood cells in your blood. Together, these tests are used to evaluate for anemia, monitor blood loss, or assess oxygen delivery throughout the body.

For the following tests, we will draw your blood sample in our office and send it to an accredited external lab for analysis.

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC): A CBC measures several components of your blood, including red and white blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and platelets. It is commonly used to identify infections, inflammation, immune response, or unexplained fatigue.
  • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP): This test offers a broad view of your metabolic and organ health. It involves measuring kidney and liver function, electrolytes, and blood sugar levels, and is commonly used in routine physical exams or to track chronic conditions.
  • Lipid Panel: A lipid panel measures cholesterol and triglyceride levels, which can help evaluate your risk for heart disease. It is a routine part of heart health management and is often included in yearly wellness exams.
  • Thyroid Function Tests: These tests check levels of hormones like TSH, T3, and T4 to assess whether your thyroid is underactive or overactive. Thyroid imbalances can affect mood, weight, energy levels, and metabolism.

Urine Dipstick Test

The urine dipstick test is a quick, initial screening performed right here in the office. It uses a chemical-sensitive strip to rapidly screen your urine, providing valuable clues about your general health.

The dipstick test can be done for a wide range of medical conditions.

  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • Kidney problems
  • Diabetes
  • Liver disease
  • Dehydration

For this test, you will typically be asked to provide a urine sample during your visit. The sample is then analyzed for protein, glucose, ketones, red and white blood cells, and bacteria. Any abnormalities may indicate underlying health issues that require further evaluation with a formal urinalysis.

Rapid Testing for Quick Answers

When you are feeling unwell or need answers fast, rapid tests can help identify common infections and conditions quickly. We offer a range of point-of-care tests that provide same-day results, helping you get clarity and begin appropriate treatment without unnecessary delays.

  • COVID-19 Test: If you have symptoms like fever, cough, or loss of taste and smell, a rapid COVID-19 test can quickly determine whether you have been infected. It is performed using a soft nasal swab to collect a sample, which is then tested for proteins from the virus.
  • Flu A + B Test: This test identifies whether your flu symptoms are caused by Influenza A or B. It involves using a nasal or throat swab to collect a sample, which is then analyzed for flu antigens. Rapid flu testing helps differentiate the flu from other respiratory illnesses and ensures timely treatment when needed.
  • Strep Test: A rapid strep test checks for streptococcal bacteria in the throat, a common cause of sore throat and fever. A quick swab of the back of your throat is taken and tested for strep antigens. Getting tested early can help prevent complications and unnecessary antibiotic use.

These tests are performed in our clinic using a quick nasal or throat swab, depending on the type of test. The sample is then analyzed on-site, and results are typically available on the same day.

Screening Tests for Preventive Care

Screening tests are an important part of preventive care. They help detect potential issues early, sometimes even before symptoms begin, so that treatment can start promptly and complications can be avoided.

At Blue Stone Health & Wellness, we provide the following screening options to support your overall well-being.

  • Alcohol Screening: Alcohol screening helps identify harmful alcohol use patterns that may suggest risky alcohol use or alcohol use disorder (AUD). Testing may include a blood or urine sample.
  • Fentanyl Screening: Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid. Fentanyl screening is used to detect the presence of this opioid in the body and is typically done through a urine test. It may be recommended in cases of suspected exposure, substance use monitoring, or as part of a broader drug screening panel.

Pregnancy Testing

At Blue Stone Health & Wellness, we offer fast and confidential pregnancy testing to confirm a suspected pregnancy.

Pregnancy tests work by detecting human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone that the body begins producing shortly after conception. We may use a urine sample or a blood test to check for hCG levels.

  • Urine Test: This is the most commonly used test and can detect hCG in your urine. It is quick, simple, and results are typically available immediately.
  • Blood Test: In some cases, a blood test may be recommended. This can either confirm the presence of hCG (qualitative test) or measure the exact amount of the hormone in your bloodstream (quantitative or beta-hCG test).
